Cheval always has a smile on his face at the beginning, middle AND end of every workout. His hard work is definitely paying off. Read below for our conversation!
Q: How long have you been attending group classes with LD?
A: Since last November.
Q: Why did you start in the first place? What did you want to achieve or what was/were your goals?
A: The initial reason for starting my LD journey was to prepare for an upcoming trip to my home island of Trinidad (and Tobago) for Carnival. Prior to LD, my exercise regime involved working out at the gym however I really struggled to keep motivated. I started doing some research on group classes in the area and decided to give LD a try. So glad I did!
While my initial reason for joining LD was to prepare for my vacation, my goals quickly evolved to working on my strength and endurance/stamina. The first few classes were tough (reaching for those jolly ranchers candy) however I kept showing up and the team at LD kept providing the support/encouragement needed.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about the group classes?
A: The instructors are great at keeping you motivated, the workouts interesting and bringing the music. Music is an important component for my workouts and yeah I like to break the occasional dance move or off-key tune.
What makes LD really special is the sense of community. We may not all be at the same stage of our fitness journey however we are all rooting for each other.
Q: What has been the hardest aspect or most challenging for you?
A: Hardest part of my fitness journey is being consistent with my diet and workouts, especially when I’m traveling. Some trips are better than others. I did a bit of traveling this past summer and receiving the occasional accountability texts/message from my LD friends kept me focused.
Q: What do you feel like has been your biggest accomplishment or thing that you are the most proud of, since beginning the group classes.
A: Very happy with my level of energy and mental clarity since consistently working out at LD. It has been awhile since I felt this physically and mentally fit! Also, my results to date have reinforced the important lesson of consistency being key.
Q: What is your favorite class and why?
A: I enjoy them all! However I try to really bring it to “Back, Biceps and Legs HIIT” with legs being my focus area at the moment.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: At the moment, chicken curry dishes with Trinidad or Thailand influences.
Q: What is one thing we do not know about you?
A: I enjoy attending music festivals, parties or carnivals around the world. Trinidad of course being the best. Unbiased here! 😊
